Dick Lau’s Home consists of three series that re-examine the concepts of home and family through portrait photography. In the series "Diminish," for example, Lau photographed families in locations of their choosing. In addition to “properly” focused images, Lau also created photographs with parts of the image blurred or out of focus, thereby relaying an experience shared by all families: that due to different life spans and circumstances, families are a transient unit subject to constant change. Each of the three series in Home are separated in three different volumes, plus one book with texts by the artist himself as well as essays by Lau Ching-Ping and a short-story by writer Gabriel Wu.

Dick Lau is a Hong Kong photographer who takes documentary for a turn. Lau holds a committee seat with the Hong Kong International Photography Festival, and otherwise works as a photography tutor for youth as part of the government social welfare department. As part of Asia Society’s project Visioning in the Dark, he taught at Ebenezer School’s photography project for the visually imparied. Group exhibitions include [re:DeveLepwent]: Kwun Tong Yue Man Square Redevelopment Documentation Exhibition VI (Lumenvisum, 2010-2015), an exhibition curated by Lau Ching Ping (Eslite Bookstore, 2013), Photo Reading Room (JCCAC, 2014), and 1000 families exhibition by Hong Kong International Photography Festival (Artistree Taikoo Place, 2016). Home as a solo exhibition was premiered at Lumenvisum. Lau’s works have been collected by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Founded in 2015 with a focus on photography and contemporary art, Case Publishing made it its mission to expand the art book into a platform for an even richer variety of art forms. Together with international artists, Case Publishing elevates artbooks into a new mode of expression by utilizing the individual strengths of books both as a medium and as objects. In September 2017, Case Publishing opened exhibition spaces in Tokyo and Rotterdam which serve as places of cultural exchange for local communities.
