as lives are wasted away by intelligence.

    One Island. Nine Worlds.

A group with our own standards for beauty, who loves the strange and ugly, deviates our own work from the mainstream. This Island is our “Beauty” standard. Using a different angle to re-examine the definition of beauty, nine units interact and intersect to assemble this fantastic world and the stories within it. With “god” weaving through all of space and time, welcome to our “Beautiful land”

Beautiful land combines toy and illustration which allows you to make and present your own creation using various mediums. Creators can express themselves through toy-making and tell their story from narrative illustrations. With Beautiful Island, it gives readers an extraordinary and experiential reading experience.

    據點。句點
    Hong Kong

Founded in 2010 and reinvented in 2015 by artist and art professor Linda C.H. Lai with a dozen of emerging artists, the Floating Projects (FP) occupied a 170m2 artistic production site in Wong Chuk Hang industrial area to answer the question: what can artists do with an empty unit in an industrial building with institutionally and physically defined constraints, and how do artists survive beyond the commercial gallery system and a public funds-dependent charity model? In August 2018, the Floating Projects Collective (FPC) moved into a new re-purposed industrial building in Shek Kip Mei’s JCCAC to drive a new phase FP 2.0, which remains a site of collaborative-individuated art experiments after an interdisciplinary and intermedia principle, and itself an art project that interrogates questions of space and being. The collective has grown from 12 to 17 members. We uphold rigorous mutual critique, and an approach to art-making that views a work as always in-progress with generative potentials. We persist in being a place where artists of varied generations could work together, meet in conversations and write about what we do.

I put my heart and soul into the production of these artist’s books, processing the images carefully, scanning the books with care, printing them with paper which is similar to the original works and making sure the quality of the printing. All these procedures are rather common ways for the production.

The uncommon thing during the production is the interference in work. For example, the sketch paper may be stuck in the duplicator; the completely unrelated proofs and drawing may be put together; an unclear work may be printed on the kraftpaper; or probably a working contract just appears before your eyes suddenly. These are the coincidences I am looking forward to and which I believe are the mystery-like unconventional artistries in the artists’ book.
